Photographs of everyday life

The exhibition project featuring photographs of everyday life was created using a contemporary visual language. Essentially, it consists of urban scenes from our everyday lives. No specific compositional preferences dominate; visual interest is drawn equally to natural, urban, or structural elements,or indeed any form that, through distinctive modular characteristics, achieves a pleasing aesthetic harmony, thereby creating an unintentional contemporary realism. It all seems to belong to an enigmatic dimension of the reality we inhabit in our daily lives. The result is encapsulated in a new iconography of contemporary reality, achieved through the fusion of the composition with the urban environment to which it belongs. The photographic chronicle unfolds through a visual exploration of the territory, traversing city alleys, country paths, seascapes, historical and religious monuments, and parks, or following various urban routes that extend into isolated areas within both the city center and the outskirts. Through creative workshops, various expressive iconographies, born of lived daily experience, take shape and can be grouped as follows.

Photographs taken along the way.  It is thrilling to transform a beach, a meadow, or a stormy sea into a stage surrounded by scenic backdrops created by Mother Nature.

It is not enough to simply observe; one must capture the panoramic scene with a smooth yet comprehensive shot. The allure of street photography, characterized by an impromptu vision, holds a unique and precious value. The whole thing is captivating because it originates and takes shape in a public area owned by the entire community.

“Still life” compositions.  “Still-life” composition photographs are created by assembling various objects with carefully calibrated placement. Incorporating the necessary and varied characteristics such as form, visual weight, and the alternation of colors, light, and shadow, is essential for establishing balanced visual functionality.

Photo compositions. Assembled photo compositions, or photo stories.

Photo composition arises from the need to gradually assemble a photographic narrative using suitable objects, creating a visual journey open to free interpretation.

Decollage. Essentially, these are photographs of advertising posters weathered by the elements; while they unintentionally form patterns that make no sense from an advertising perspective, they reveal a genuine aesthetic iconography that is an integral part of  the urban landscape. The torn posters, which help complete the visual history of the urban landscape to which they belong, have been captured in their natural setting a context that is part of our everyday lives and reflects a contemporary realism.

Informal photographs. Informal photography consists of shots that capture the chromatic remnants of old urban graffiti. The latter show signs of age and expressive interventions such as areas of bleaching, partial erasures, and faded or muted colors and are often superimposed over other graffiti that have also lost their color due to wear, creating an iconography rooted in Art Informel and a focus on mate riality.

Futurist Photodynamism. Chromatic Photodynamism is inspired by the Futurist dynamism of the early 20th-century avant-garde movements. Familiarity with the iconography of Anton Giulio Bragaglia’s Futurist photodynamism initially opened up the possibility of moving beyond apparent visual reality, exploring new scenarios endowed with a fresh aesthetic expressive potential. The experience of photodynamics proved pivotal in initiating an expressive exploration that gradually evolves from a photographic shot. The ultimate goal is to complete an interpretive photograph representing a new vision of reality that is, to rectify reality through a different interpretation.
